Every field engineer who flies to sites has had the trip where the airline loses the bag and the tools are in it. The Titanium Non-Magnetic Carry-On Tool Kit is built for that morning. Thirteen Grade 5 titanium pieces, every one of them under the 7-inch length TSA allows in carry-on baggage, in a kit small enough to live in a backpack.
It is not a replacement for your service set. It is the kit that means you are never standing in a magnet room with nothing you are allowed to use.
Why titanium, and why short
Grade 5 titanium (6Al-4V) is non-ferrous and non-magnetic, so it does not respond to the magnetic field. It is also roughly 40% lighter than steel, which is the difference you feel when you carry a kit through airports every week.
TSA allows tools 7 inches or shorter in carry-on baggage, measured end to end. Most tool listings publish only shaft length, which tells you nothing about whether a tool actually clears that limit. We measured every piece in this kit overall:
| Piece | Overall length |
|---|---|
| Adjustable wrench, 6" | 6 in |
| Phillips #2, 3" shaft | 6.25 in |
| Phillips #1, 3" shaft | 6.5 in |
| Flat 1/4 × 3" | 6.25 in |
| Flat 3/16 × 3" | 6.5 in |
| Flat 5/32 × 3" | 6 in |
| Hex keys, 7 pieces (2-8 mm) | all under 6 in |
Length is only half of it. TSA also bars certain tools from carry-on whatever their size — hammers, drills and drill bits, saws, and crowbars. There is nothing of that kind in this kit, and no blade. Every piece is inside the length limit and in a permitted category.
Check TSA's current guidance before you fly, since the rules change, and remember the officer at the checkpoint always makes the final call.
What's Included
- 1 × Titanium adjustable wrench, 6 inch — covers the full metric and imperial range in one tool, including the larger RF connection sizes most kits stop short of
- 7 × Titanium metric hex keys, 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 mm — including the 5 mm used on Siemens table covers
- 1 × Titanium Phillips screwdriver, #2 × 3"
- 1 × Titanium Phillips screwdriver, #1 × 3"
- 1 × Titanium flat screwdriver, 1/4 × 3"
- 1 × Titanium flat screwdriver, 3/16 × 3"
- 1 × Titanium flat screwdriver, 5/32 × 3"
Thirteen pieces total. Bought separately these tools come to $779, so the kit saves you over $180.
Who this is for
MRI field service engineers who travel to sites. In-house imaging and clinical engineering staff who want a compact non-magnetic kit that stays in a bag. Independent service organisations covering MRI across a region. Anyone who wants a small set of non-magnetic tools they can take into the magnet room, light enough to carry all day.
It also works outside imaging. Titanium does not rust, which matters in marine and wash-down environments, and it is non-magnetic wherever a ferrous tool would disturb an instrument or a sensor.
Key Features
- Material: Grade 5 / 6Al-4V titanium, non-magnetic and non-ferrous
- Non-magnetic: Grade 5 titanium does not respond to the magnetic field
- Carry-on size: every piece measured under the TSA 7-inch limit
- Weight: approximately 40% lighter than the equivalent steel tools
- Corrosion resistant: will not rust in wash-down or marine environments
- 13 pieces: adjustable wrench, 7 hex keys, 5 screwdrivers
One thing to know: titanium is non-magnetic, but it is not non-sparking. It will spark on impact and is not rated for explosive atmospheres.

Manufactured from Grade 5 (6AL-4V) titanium alloy — non-magnetic, non-ferrous, and corrosion-resistant. Designed for MRI technicians, medical engineers, and biomedical equipment service professionals working in magnet-sensitive environments.
Every FDM titanium tool is manufactured from Grade 5 (6AL-4V) titanium alloy — the same aerospace-grade material used in aircraft structures and medical implants.
- Non-Magnetic — Zero magnetic signature, verified safe for MRI Zone IV environments
-Non-Ferrous — Contains no iron; safe for use near superconducting magnets in MRI Zone 4
- Corrosion-Resistant — Withstands hospital cleaning chemicals, humidity, and repeated sterilization
All tools are precision-machined to professional tolerances and individually inspected before shipping.
