Spectris Generations We Supply

These three are not interchangeable and the names get used loosely. Identify which you actually need before you buy.

Spectris

The original MRI injector. Discontinued by Bayer and still running in a lot of rooms. Takes the SQK 65VS equivalent kit.

Spectris Solaris

The successor. Contrast and saline pair, taking the SSQK65VS and SSQK115VS equivalent kit.

Spectris Solaris EP

The current generation, and the one with a published Bayer end of life date of 12/31/2028. That date is doing most of the work in today's used market.

What makes an MRI injector different

It has to be safe in the magnetic field. The head is MR Conditional and sited relative to the gauss line; the console sits outside. A CT injector cannot be substituted, and a Spectris cannot be moved into a room without checking where the field puts it.

In-room siting is part of the purchase

Where the head can stand depends on your magnet and your room. Ask before you buy, not after delivery. We look at this as part of quoting the install.

Two of these are MRI-specific and get missed on a CT-shaped checklist.

Which generation it actually is

Spectris, Solaris and Solaris EP are not interchangeable, and sellers use the names loosely. The label on the head settles it. Get a photo.

MR Conditional labelling and documentation

The head is a device going into a magnetic field. If the labelling and documentation cannot be produced, that is a problem your physicist and your safety officer will raise, not us.

Where the head will stand in your room

Siting depends on your magnet's field and your room geometry. A unit that worked in the seller's room may not sit where you need it in yours.

Hours on the head, and calibration history

Same as any injector. The head wears, and pressure calibration needs to have been verified by somebody at some point. Ask when.

Whether the consumables are still supplied

Both platforms are covered by current third-party kits, which is the main reason a legacy Spectris is still worth owning. Check the cross reference.

Who will service it afterwards

Siting relative to your magnet is part of the install quote, and the install is a separate line from the equipment.

90-day parts warranty, then service

Parts and remote support for 90 days from installation. Afterwards we are still the people who service it and supply the kits.

Yes. 90 days on parts, parts and remote support, from the date of installation.

Not by itself. End of life is an OEM support date, not the day the machine stops. It does mean OEM service and parts wind down and independent service plus third-party consumables become how these units keep running. Read what Bayer actually published.

No. The head goes into the magnetic field and has to be MR Conditional and sited accordingly. This is not a cost-saving substitution, it is a safety one.

Upgrading From an Injector You Already Run

Most Spectris rooms we quote already have an injector standing in them. The old one is part of the deal, not a separate job you have to solve first.

Trade the old one against the new one

One quote, with what your existing injector is worth already taken off it. Simpler than selling a used injector yourself, and it keeps the room covered. What we pay for used injectors.

Moving up a generation

Legacy Spectris to a Solaris, or a Solaris to a Solaris EP. Tell us which you run and what you want it to do, and we will tell you honestly whether the move is worth the money or whether keeping what you have running is the better call.

Siting is part of an upgrade, not an afterthought

A different generation of head does not necessarily stand where the old one stood. Where it can sit depends on your magnet and your room, and we look at that while we are quoting rather than on the day it arrives.
