Bayer MEDRAD Injector End of Life Dates and What They Mean
Bayer is retiring its legacy contrast injector platforms and pointing customers toward its current systems, the MEDRAD Stellant FLEX and Centargo for CT and the MEDRAD MRXperion for MR. Those are capable machines and a sensible choice when new equipment fits the budget. Worth knowing as you plan: each of them runs its own consumable line, so the kits you stock today do not move with you. A qualified refurbished injector on the platform you already run is also a legitimate option, and your syringes, protocols and training all stay exactly as they are. If you operate a Stellant or a Spectris Solaris EP, an end-of-life date has already been published for your system. Here is what Bayer has announced, what it withdraws, and what your options actually are.

What an End of Life Date Withdraws
Bayer states that after the end-of-life date it will no longer offer service, including preventive maintenance, equipment calibration, replacement parts and technical support, or consumables for that installed base. In practice that is five separate problems arriving on the same day:
No preventive maintenance
Your annual PM has to come from somewhere else, and accreditation and risk-management programs still expect documented maintenance on injection equipment.
No calibration
Flow rate and volume verification still need performing and documenting.
No replacement parts
Component failures move to third-party stock and repair rather than replacement.
No technical support
No factory line when the head faults mid-shift.
No consumables
The one departments underestimate. Bayer has already discontinued the SQK 65VS, CTP-200-FLS, 150-FT-Q and 200-FT-Q kits.
We are not going to tell you to replace working equipment. If a unit is beyond economical repair we will say so, and we also buy used imaging equipment and sell refurbished injectors when you retire one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Independent service organizations do. We service the Stellant, Spectris and Spectris Solaris across the central and southeastern US, including platforms Bayer has already retired, and we supply the consumables for them. See the Injector Uptime Program.
Bayer has published 12/31/2028 for the Stellant CT Injection Systems, covering the Classic models, the Dual and Single models, and the version with the Certegra Workstation.
Yes, 12/31/2028. The earlier non-EP Spectris Solaris and the original Spectris are already discontinued.
End of life is a support decision, not a safety recall. What matters is that preventive maintenance and calibration verification continue to be performed and documented by a qualified provider.
Not from Bayer for that platform. FDA-cleared compatible kits are manufactured for all of these systems and we supply them. See the syringe cross reference.
No. Those are Bayer's upgrade paths, not a requirement. Independent service and compatible consumables are a legitimate alternative for a system that still performs.
It depends on the unit and how it has been maintained. A preventive maintenance visit and an honest inspection will tell you far more than a date on a letter.
SQK 65VS, CTP-200-FLS, 150-FT-Q and 200-FT-Q.
We would rather you checked this against the source than took our word for it. These are Bayer's published documents.
