What Full Coverage Includes

The Exclusions Are the Product

Any provider can list what is included. What tells you whether a quote is real is whether the exclusions are written as plainly as the inclusions. Ours are. Compare this against a PM only agreement before you decide.

Scheduled preventive maintenance

Everything a PM only agreement covers sits inside this one. The visits, the measurements and the documentation are the floor here, not the product.

Corrective labor

When something breaks, the labor to diagnose and repair it is inside the agreement. No quote, no approval cycle, and no argument about hours while the room sits idle.

Travel and mobilization

Mileage and travel time are inside the number. This matters more than sites expect: travel is what makes a distant call expensive, and it is the line most often left out of a comparison.

A defined parts scope

Which parts are covered is named subsystem by subsystem, with any caps stated as actual numbers. Major components are priced as named lines rather than folded into a default.

A defined response

The agreement states what response you bought, what starts the clock and what satisfies it. Remote support, phone support and an engineer on site are three different products.

Reporting and an annual review

A report after every visit and a summary at renewal covering what failed, what it cost and what the system is likely to need next. That record decides the next scope instead of a sales conversation.

Ask Any Provider These Six Questions

The X-ray tube, the detector array and DAS, the high voltage generator. A quote that cannot answer all six is not comparable to one that can, and the gap is always in your supplier's favour. Same questions apply to a MRI contract.

X-ray tube and tube cooling

The tube, its housing, the oil pump and the cooling loop. Whether the tube is inside the agreement is the single biggest variable in what a CT contract costs. In, out and capped are all legitimate answers. An agreement that does not state which is not a quote you can compare.

High voltage generator

Generator, high voltage tank and cabling. Arcing and kV instability show up as streaking and dropped scans well before anything fails outright.

Detector array and data acquisition

Detector modules and the DAS. After the tube, this is the part that turns a service call into a capital conversation. Ring and band artefacts start here, and calibration only masks a failing channel for so long.

Gantry rotation

Brush blocks, drive, bearings and balance. Noise and vibration are the early warning, and brush debris produces faults that read as electrical rather than mechanical.

Collimator, filtration and beam shaping

Collimator drive, bowtie filters and beam shaping hardware. Faults here move dose and image quality together, which makes them a physics-survey problem rather than a service call.

Injector interface and dose modulation

The interface to the contrast injector and the dose modulation hardware. FDM services the injectors themselves, which is unusual in a CT agreement. See injector service and support.

Make, model, install year, site, volume, and what has failed in the last two years. Failure history is the most useful number in the whole conversation and the one sites most often do not have to hand.

We propose a coverage scope

Subsystem by subsystem, with major components named individually and any caps written as numbers. You will be able to see exactly what you are buying and what you are not.

We quote it against the alternative

The same system priced as PM only alongside it, so you can see what the coverage is actually costing. If PM only is the better buy at your volume, that is what we will tell you.

Report every visit, review every year

What failed, what it cost, and what the system is likely to need next. At renewal that record sets the scope instead of a sales conversation.

Prorated coverage is normal, but the basis is not always the one you assume. Coverage prorated on scan seconds behaves very differently on a busy scanner than coverage prorated on elapsed months. Read which basis you are being offered.

Whatever the agreement states, together with what starts the clock and what satisfies it. A response satisfied by a phone call is a different product from one satisfied by an engineer on site.

FDM holds the agreement and is the party responsible to you under it. Attending engineers are FDM's own and contracted engineers, which is standard in independent service.
